One UI 8.5 Introduces a Fresh Look to the Calculator App

Now, with One UI 8.5, subtle but meaningful enhancements are being introduced, particularly to the stock Calculator app.
In the latest internal beta version of One UI 8.5, the Calculator app features a new drop shadow effect on all the primary buttons, including numbers and operators. This glow creates an aura around the pressed button, enhancing the tactile feel of the app. Interestingly, the glow’s color changes depending on the mode you are using and whether the device is set to dark mode or light mode. This effect is consistent across different Calculator modes, including Scientific and Unit Converter modes, where the drop shadow effect is also visible on all buttons.

Beyond visual changes, One UI 8.5 introduces a new time-saving feature named Nudges. According to the One UI 8.5 changelog, the Calculator app now suggests numbers and formulas that have been copied to the device clipboard. Users can quickly tap these suggestions to input the numbers or formulas directly into the Calculator, instantly seeing the final result. This feature streamlines calculations by reducing the need to manually enter copied data, saving users valuable time.
Despite these improvements, one notable feature remains absent from the Calculator app. Samsung has yet to add a currency converter, a feature that users have requested since 2017. This omission continues to be the only major missing element in the app.
